I. Problems With Going Forward - Exodus 14:10-11

Fearful Ideas about the present - We see Egyptians

Isn't it funny how we forget God's track record when we are faced with problems…This crowd had forgotten the great miracles God had done to get them out!!!!

A. SALVATION FROM EGYPT - by the mighty hand of God through the great plagues

B. TREASURE - that they came out with..

Forgetful Ideas about the past - They were saying we sure miss Egypt. They forgot the bondage, they forgot the fears, they forgot God’s power…

1. THEIR IDEA WAS WE'LL DIE IN THE WILDERNESS

2. GOD'S IDEA WAS, "I WANT TO PART JORDAN"

3. GOD'S IDEA WAS, "I WANT TO DESTROY JERICHO"

4. GOD'S IDEA WAS, "I WANT TO GIVE YOU HOUSES YOU DID NOT BUILD AND CROPS YOU DID NOT SOW.."

5. GOD'S IDEA WAS, "I'VE GOT A GIANT'S HEADS TO GIVE YOU."

The Devil will give 200 reasons why you can't do it.. and most of us are so dumb we listen..

The Devil will fill your head and hearts with fears - which when manifest will show a lost world that you don't have much of a God... how sad..

II. Purpose for Going Forward - Exodus 14:4, 17-18

Those of us that are striving for that goal are happy, and have a sense of well being, and those of us who are not, DO NOT!

Who set up everything that happened in Chapter 14? God Did!

ExodusDid God have a problem hardening the hearts? Was there any indication that the Egyptians rebelled or didn't want to go where God put them? NO! What was the Problem? God's people couldn't see it so they didn't want to do it! God is honored when we are going forward.. What did these people have to exercise in this passage? Faith in God. They had to believe that God was right! ...that God was at work! What if they hadn't? NO RED SEA EXPERIENCE!

You know who is in Chapter 11 of Hebrews? People who went forward!

But our Problem is we want it parted then we'll go forward. We want to see it then we'll act. We say, well when I get all my ducks in a row, then I'll be what God wants me to BE, then I'll do what God wants me to do...  Matthew 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

Most folks have to see it, to do it. God is going to supply when we go forward!

III. Places we need to go forward!

Go Forward in Devotion to God - We all need to give back to God of our money but more importantly of our time. Our lives are very busy but if we remember…

If we do not give of our time to God above our jobs, above our families, above our community activities then we are telling God and our friends and neighbors that God is not important.

Conclusion

Go Forward in Salvation - Settle this; get security.  Now is the time!

2 Corinthians 6:2 For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Gain this security by listening to God and obeying his commands for Salvation:

Hear His Word

Romans 10:14 "How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?"

Believe

Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek."

Repent of Sin

2 Corinthians 7:10 "For godly grief produce a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death."

Confess Christ

Romans 10:9-10 "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."

Be Baptized

1 Peter 3:21 "Baptism, which corresponds to this , now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ"

Remain Faithful Until Death

Revelation 2:10 "Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life."
