Abhor That Which Is EvilIn 1 John 4:7-9 we are admonished to love one another because God is love. God sent his only begotten Son in to the world that we might live through His life - John 3:16-17

The love that we have for God, and one another, also demands that we abhor or hate that which is evil.

In Romans 12:9 we find that love is to be without hypocrisy, we are to cling to that which is good, and to abhor that which is evil. The word, abhor means to feel extreme hatred for, to shrink from with horror, or to regard with disgust.

This is the type of attitude that we must have towards that which is evil. Therefore, we must learn to hate the things that are contrary to Godís law. This will come about by the process of instilling Godís precepts and commandments in our minds - Psalm 119:11, 119:104

In Numbers 25:1-13, Israel committed whoredom, or harlotry, with the daughters of Moab (married foreign wives), and called Israel to the sacrifices of their gods, and they bowed down to them to their false idol (Baalpeor). The Lord was angry with them, and pronounced punishment against them. But when a man of the children of Israel bought a Midianitish woman in sight of Moses and the congregation, Phinehas took action against this evil and slew them both, and was commended for it by God.

What type of attitude do you have when there is sin in your camp?

Do you overlook it?  Do you tolerate it because many people are behaving in a similar way? Or are you zealous for God and fight against evil - Psalm 34:12-16

Ponder the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 101:1-8, and be encouraged to abhor that which is evil.  Fight against evil and accept the Salvation that God lovingly offers:  Hear - Believe - Repent - Confess - Be Baptized
